A good quality fly fishing is an investment in your fishing success. Fly Fishing line comes in a few key variations. One is the line weight. You want to match the fly line weight the the reel and rod you are using. You would not want to match an 8 weight line with a 5 weight rod and reel. The line would be too heavy to get a quality cast.
Second you want to match the fly line to the presentation you want. Most trout lines are weight forward floating tip. This means the line is tapered through the spool and the tip of the line will float on the surface. This is key for dry fly fishing. There is also sinking tip line which is needed for streamer fishing and other presentations where you need the flies to sink in the water column.
