A good fly fishing net will last you for a literal lifetime. The quality of fly fishing nets is so much better than the nylon nets of 15 years ago. Most anglers use a 'ghost net', one with a special net material that keeps the fish healthy during landing. In fact, using a nylon net today will most likely get you some strange looks from other fishermen on the river.
While some nets cost more than others, I highly recommend that you buy as much quality as you can afford to do. I've had the same net for more than 15 years. It works wonderfully and has a wooden handle - which will most likely outlast me. The best names in nets are FishPond and Brodin.
FishPond Nomad Emerger NetFishpond is one of the top nets on the market. These nets are designed to last a long time, a lifetime in fact. The Nomad weighs less than a pound and measures 33x12 inches. |
